Barbecue fire in Cambridge Street, Tunbridge Wells

Two wheelie bins and a fence were destroyed after a gas barbecue caught fire in Tunbridge Wells.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service were called to a home in Cambridge Street just before 2.30pm yesterday.

A fire involving a propane cylinder used to power a gas barbecue destroyed the bins and caused scorching to brickwork at the property.

Firefighters cooled the gas cylinder and extinguished the fire.

They used a thermal imaging camera to detect any further fire spread.

There were no reports of any injuries and the fire is thought to have been accidental.
