Firefighters battle hedge blaze spreading to Tunbridge Wells homes

Firefighters tackled a blaze which spread to homes after a hedge went up in flames during the early hours.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service is yet to establish how the fire broke out in Grange Road, Tunbridge Wells, which prompted crews to arrive in two engines at 1.50am this morning.

They fought back the flames and made the area safe by 2.50am using a high-pressure hose jet and ventilation fan.

A fire service spokesman said: “Two fire engines attended, and crews extinguished the flames, which had started to spread to two nearby houses. Firefighters used high-pressure fans to clear the properties of any smoke.”

No injuries were reported, and the cause is not yet known.

Police have been contacted for comment.
