Fundraising page set up for 'kind-hearted' schoolboy from Tunbridge Wells who died in Dunorlan Park

A crowdfunding page in memory of a 'kind-hearted young man' from Tunbridge Wells has raised thousands in less than 24-hours.

Matthew Mackell, a year 12 student from Skinners' Kent Academy, died in Dunorlan Park. He was found in the Pembury Road site just after 5am on Thursday.

More than £4,400 has been raised since the page launched yesterday evening. The target was set at £3,900, but has now been increased to £5,000.

On the JustGiving page, a message relayed from Matthew's father Michael says he was 'the most kind-hearted young man you could ever meet'.

His friends say he was 'one of the funniest boys around, who had the biggest smile'.

In a letter to parents, executive principal of Skinners' Kent Academy, Dr Hilary Macaulay, said Matthew represented everything the academy stands for and values.

The page hopes to raise enough to help Matthew's family with funeral costs and to buy a memorial tree in Dunorlan Park.

A message from Matthew's father on the page said: "I'd like to stress to you all, that if anyone needs to talk through anything at all that's worrying them, please talk to someone, don't keep it to yourself.

"Check on people, make sure they are okay, give them a hug, and talk."
