Tunbridge Wells: Hunt for burglars who stabbed homeowner in Rusthall Road raid

A man in his 50s is recovering in hospital after being stabbed by burglars in a raid on his home near Tunbridge Wells.

Three or four men are said to have entered the premises, just off Rusthall Road, at around 1am last night and assaulted the victim, leaving him with stab-like injuries to his shoulder and left arm.

The men then left the house and ran from the scene.

Officers and the South East Coast Ambulance Service attended the address and the victim was sent to a local hospital for medical attention, where he remains in a stable condition.

Investigating officer, detective Sergeant Tom Daveney said: "I want to reassure residents that we believe this to be an isolated incident and Rusthall remains a safe place to live.

"We have been carrying out enquiries in the area and are seeking to establish the identities of the suspects. They are described as wearing dark clothes and balaclavas.

"Investigators are reviewing CCTV and forensic opportunities.

"In the meantime, anyone who witnessed anything suspicious or who has information that may help the investigation is urged to contact us as soon as possible."
