Hunt after Royal Mail driver is attacked

DETECTIVES are hunting two men after a Royal Mail driver was assaulted and had his van stolen in Tunbridge Wells today.

Police say the two men pushed the postal worker out of the vehicle while he was on his delivery round in the Mount Pleasant area of the town.

The driver was unhurt but suffered severe shock. The van was later found abandoned in Sutherland Road. It has not yet been revealed if mail was stolen.

The drama occurred shortly after 8am. Detectives say one of the men is white, the other black.

Police want anyone who may have information about the incident or who saw anybody acting suspiciously in or Mount Pleasant or Sutherland Road to contact them.
