Police were called to reports of a distressed woman on a busy main road.
Officers spoke to her at the scene on Pembury Road, above the A21 near Tunbridge Wells.
She was later passed into the care of health professionals.
Drivers reported seeing someone being talked down from the bridge just before the junction for the A264 and said they saw two ambulances and two police vehicles.
The road is still open.
