Service to celebrate consultant's life

A SERVICE to remember the life of a popular hospital consultant who treated hundreds of cancer sufferers in Maidstone and West Kent is being held on Saturday, November 23.

The life of Dr David Pickering, the leading consulant clinical oncologist who died suddenly in July, will be celebrated in a remembrance service in Tunbridge Wells.

Dr Pickering, 53, from East Peckham, was a cancer specialist who dealt mainly with breast cancer patients. He spent 18 years working at Pembury Hospital, near Tunbridge Wells, and was also a member of the team at Maidstone Hospital's breast clinic. He died of a heart attack while on a family holiday in Corfu.

The service takes place at St James' Church, Ferndale, off Sandrock Road, Tunbridge Wells, starting at 2.30pm.
