Two men each charged with four counts of theft from a shop following reported shoplifting in Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells

Two men have been charged with eight counts of theft after goods worth almost £1,000 were reported stolen.

Police were called to stores in Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells between 11.45am and 1.30pm on Tuesday (November 1).

Items including groceries, alcohol, and candles were reported stolen.

Officers later stopped a vehicle suspected to be involved in the incidents in Maidstone Road, Hadlow at about 1.30pm.

Three arrests were made and goods worth almost £1,000 were seized.

Lee Plant, 43, of West Park Road, Maidstone, and Luke Ransome, 44, of Captains Close, Sutton Valence, were later charged with four counts each of theft from a shop.

The pair are due to appear at Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court on December 1.

A 23-year-old man, from Maidstone, was also arrested but later released without charge.
