Woman charged with sex trafficking offence after police raids at Tunbridge Wells 'brothels'

A woman has been charged with a sex trafficking offence following police raids at suspected brothels in Tunbridge Wells.

Shuangyan Hu, 36, was arrested at her home in Harrow in London on Wednesday morning, where £8,000 cash was also seized.

Her arrest is linked to a warrant at a suspected brothel in Rock Villa Road, Tunbridge Wells, on May 10, which resulted in officers identifying a 39-year-old woman whom they believe to have been a victim of sex trafficking.

Another suspected brothel was searched in Lime Hill Road on July 4.

Ms Hu has subsequently been charged with arranging or facilitating the travel of the suspected sex worker with a view to her being exploited, and with possession of criminal property.

She has been remanded in custody and will appear before Medway magistrates on Friday.

Three other people arrested as part of the same investigation, a 61-year-old man and two women in their 20s, are currently on police bail pending further enquiries.
