A Tunbridge Wells heroin user has been jailed after she allowed a dealer to use her home in exchange for free drugs.

Faithful Smithwas given heroin in exchange for letting a London-based teenager operate from her flat in Upper Grosvenor Road.

Smith, 46, was arrested along with the 17-year-old male, from South Norwood, on June, 17.

Police had been monitoring a car park next to her property following reports of drug dealing, when officers saw Smith try to conceal drugs in her underwear as she was leaving the building and heading to a parked car.

Smith was taken into custody and told officers the teenager was in her flat and dealing. A search of the property led to his arrest and the seizure of further drugs.

A total of 139 wraps were recovered, containing heroin and cocaine, along with £267 in cash.

During police interview the teenager claimed he was being instructed by another London based criminal to guard the drugs and cash and stay indoors to avoid detection by the police.

Smith would operate as a ‘runner’, taking drugs to users and collecting money.

Appearing at Maidstone Crown Court on Wednesday, August, 26 both were sentenced to prison, having previously pleaded guilty to charges of possession with intent to supply heroin and cocaine.

Smith was jailed for three years and the teenager sentenced to two years.

Tunbridge Wells chief inspector, Dave Pate,said: "This case actually demonstrates just how hard it has become for criminals to deal drugs in Tunbridge Wells.

"Offenders are attempting to use different tactics to avoid getting caught, such as taking over the properties of drug users and vulnerable people and sending them out to make the deals.

"However, the bottom line is that they are still not succeeding and we are still catching them. I’m determined to keep it that way and ensure we remain one step ahead of anyone involved in the supply drugs in this town.

"Once again I would also like to thank residents for all their help in reporting any suspicious activity. Your help really does count."
