AN ELDERLY woman pedestrian was taken to hospital with serious head injuries today after she was in collision with a van in Tunbridge Wells.

The accident happened at about 11.45am at the junction of Nevill Street and Frant Road, near the Pantiles. It led to several roads in the area being closed by police and diversions being set up, causing traffic problems well into the afternoon.

The woman, thought to be in her eighties, was taken to the Kent and Sussex Hospital.
