It is the second time the event has been held after it entertained onlookers and picked up popularity last year.

Organised by the Weald of Kent Young Farmers’ Club (YFC), 42 tractors and two lorries made their way through four villages on the weekend.

Starting in Goudhurst, the convoy ventured out to Cranbrook High Street, then Staplehurst and finally Marden.

The tractors passed in a blaze of fairy lights, tinsel and light up inflatables, and could be heard from many miles away

Watchers were able to anticipate the journey, as the vehicles were tracked live by Paddock Wood Lions, who converted their Santa sleigh tracker into a tractor tracker for the night.

Claire Eckley, club leader and creator of the parade, said: “We had the best time!

“I would estimate over 10,000 people were out watching, everywhere from village centres to gateways and lay-bys on the route.

“They were literally ten deep in popular places, like near The George Hotel in Cranbrook, and on the hill in Goudhurst.

“It is a remarkable decoration and whereas Xmas tractor rallies occur all over the country, I’ve never seen one decorated like this.”

Pubs and cafes stayed open to keep everyone fed and watered throughout the night.

A team of 30 volunteers carrying donation buckets got the crowds going when the tractors could be heard approaching, tooting and playing their musical horns.

The majority of the funds will go to Air Ambulance Kent, Surrey and Sussex, with some to be kept for the Young Farmers Club, which will support the programme of learning and personal development.

“The group are absolutely delighted with how the event went,” Claire added.

“We would like to thank Osmond’s Transport and Planing for traffic management, Lower Ladysden Farm for hosting the start and finish, and sponsors Kingcott Dairy, M&A Brown and Sons, Beshaw Tyres, and Tow Truck Trader.”

The tractor run is thought to have inspired another parade that is set to take place this weekend.

Dozens of decorated vehicles will be journeying around Grain in Rochester on Saturday (December 23) from 4pm.
