Cyclist in critical condition after suspected hit-and-run on the A228 Maidstone Road near Paddock Wood

A cyclist remains in a critical condition in hospital more than 24 hours after a suspected hit-and-run incident.

He was riding on the A228 Maidstone Road, from the Badsell Road roundabout towards Paddock Wood, when it is thought he was involved in a collision with a car.

The cyclist suffered serious injuries in the accident, which happened at around 2.40pm yesterday, and was taken to a local hospital where he remains in a critical but stable condition.

A police spokesman said: "Officers from Kent Police's serious collision investigation unit are carrying out enquiries to establish the circumstances including whether any other vehicles were involved in the incident.

"In particular, they would like to hear from motorists with dashcam who were in the area at the time and may have footage that could assist the investigation."
