Driver injured after car crashes into tree on A229 at Frittenden

A man in his 20s suffered serious injuries after his car crashed into a tree this morning.

Firefighters were called out to the crash on the A229 Staplehurst Road just after 2.20am.

They discovered the driver was trapped in the car and worked to cut away branches.

Hydraulic rescue gear managed to open the car door and the driver was taken out.

He was rushed to a London hospital with injuries described as serious but not life threatening.

The road was temporarily closed and reopened at 7.30am.
