Man dies after car hits tree on A21 near Flimwell

A man died after his car crashed into a tree in the middle of the night, police have confirmed.

Kent motorists faced delays on the A21 just south of Flimwell this morning after the crash, which closed the road from the A268 Hawkhurst Road to the B2099 in Hurst Green.

A silver Seat Leon left the carriageway just after midnight.

A 22-year-old from Whatlington, who was the only person in the vehicle, died at the scene.

The A21 re-opened just after 8.30am.

Police are appealing for witnesses.

Anyone who saw what happened, or who may have seen the Seat being driven beforehand, is asked to contact Sussex Police online or by calling 101, quoting Operation Welbourn.
