A driver has been taken to hospital after a crash between a car and a lorry which felled a tree and left a vehicle overturned.

Chart Hill Road in Cross-at-Hand has now road re-opened after being closed in both directions following the accident shortly after 7.30am.

Police rushed to the scene along with paramedics who took a man to hospital. Fortunately, his injuries are not serious.

Both lanes were shut for more than three hours causing heavy traffic in the surrounding area.

Highways workers also went to the scene to remove the tree and the road is now clear.
