Kent fire crews called to plastic fire in Whetsted Road, Paddock Wood

Fire crews were called to the scene of a blaze where a large amount of plastic fruit containers caught alight.

Four fire engines are at the fire in Whetsted Road, Paddock Wood, after Kent Fire and Rescue Service were called at 3.40pm.

Black smoke could be seen from afar and people living in the area were told to close their windows.

The fire was put out by 7pm and the warning to residents was lifted.

Four fire engines and a bulk water carrier attended, and crews used hose reel jets, main jets and foam to extinguish the blaze. There were no reported injuries
