Family of Joshua Oliver, from Whitstable, prepare for first Christmas without him after drugs death

The family of tragic teenager Josh Oliver are steeling themselves for their first Christmas without him.

Last week an inquest heard that the 15-year-old from Dargate died after taking party drug ecstasy at a house in Saddleton Road, Whitstable, on December 29.

It also emerged that Jack Pointer, 19, from Hill View Road, Whitstable, has admitted supplying Josh with a class A drug.

Josh’s father Paul, who runs a Facebook page to raise money for charity in Josh’s memory, said: “It is now time to name and shame.”

Paul lives with his wife Sarah, Josh’s stepmother, and the couple’s eight-year-old twins at a farm in Dargate Lane.

"This year – and undoubtedly all Christmases hereafter – is going to be a tough one..." - Paul Oliver

He added: “I know Josh did a silly thing, but if this lad hadn’t sold drugs to a minor, then Josh might still be with us today and looking forward to Christmas as he always did.

The Josh Oliver Foundation Charity has been raising money for Child Bereavement UK.

Last week’s hearing in Margate was told that Josh had bought the ecstasy from Pointer in powdered MDMA form.

With his girlfriend Molly Smith-Dawson, he had “bombed” it – a method of taking it which involves wrapping it in a cigarette paper and swallowing it.

That night Josh went into convulsions and was taken to the QEQM Hospital in Margate where he later died.

A post-mortem examination gave his clinical cause of death as ecstasy poisoning and coroner Ian Goldup ruled his death had been misadventure.

Josh was a pupil at the Community College Whitstable and had previously studied at Canterbury High in years 7 and 8.

Pointer is due to be sentenced at Canterbury Crown Court on December 21.
