More than 300 plants seized from cannabis farm in Bethersden Road, Smarden, near Ashford, following fire

A huge cannabis farm with more than 300 plants was uncovered following a fire at an industrial site.

Police received calls about the cultivation at 11.30pm on Friday in Bethersden Road, Smarden, near Ashford, where a blaze had also been reported.

Officers attended alongside fire crews and the building was made safe. Nobody was injured.

Police later removed more than 300 cannabis plants and associated growing equipment from the site.

Investigations are ongoing to establish the cause of the fire and to identify those behind the cannabis cultivation.
