We sent a child to review Haribo at Ashford Designer Outlet

More than 100 excited customers flocked to a shopping centre in Ashford last week in order to be the first in line for the launch of Kent's first Haribo sweet shop.

After the crowds had dispersed, we sent 11-year-old Nicholas Leonidou to Ashford Designer Outlet to find out what all the fuss is about.

We gave the young mystery shopper £5 and free rein to spend on any sweets of his choice - what more could a kid want?

The schoolboy, who is in his first year at The John Wallis Academy, exited the sweet shop armed with six large bags of sweets, seemingly pleased with the whole experience.

For no more than £5, Nicholas emerged from the store with share size bags of Maoam Roxx, Chamallows, Jelly Babies, Strawberry Softies, as well as two types of strawberry laces.

Here's what the youngster thought of his very first trip to the Happy World of Haribo...

I liked all the different selection of sweets and the offers. I couldn't believe how much you can get for £5, it's amazing.

I thought that it would be the same as any other supermarket or store but there was a lot more choice.

I know I would have a hard time finding any of this in any other store.

My favourite Haribo sweets are Maoam [Crazy] Roxx. I have had them before after getting them in a supermarket but it was a rare moment. I have never seen them again until now.

I would definitely recommend this store to my friends and family in the future.

It's really great to have it so close rather than having to go to the other side of England to get these sweets.

I'm going to share all of the sweets with my family and have a movie night.

The downside is that it could be a lot bigger.

The staff were really polite, I am really happy with the selection of sweets and I really enjoyed the experience.

The brand new sweet shop opened next to Lindt last Thursday - making it the fifth store selling Haribo products and merchandise to open in the UK.

Each features a pick 'n' mix wall filled with confectionary including Giant Strawbs and Maoam Pinballs.

Seasonal exclusives, vegetarian and halal sweets are also stocked in store.
