Police were called by the London Ambulance Service just after 11pm on Thursday, July 18 to a home in Oakwood Avenue following concerns for a woman occupant.

Officers and the paramedics attended and found Diane Dyer, 61, who was unresponsive and suffering from head injuries.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

A post-mortem examination gave the cause of death as blunt force trauma to the head and face.

McCorkell, who had been in a relationship with Dyer for two months, was charged with murder after he was arrested on July 23.
