Vehicles left damaged as A2 drivers heading towards Bluewater are pelted by rocks

Vehicles have been damaged after rocks were thrown at drivers on the A2 near Bluewater.

Several drivers reported being pelted by the missiles on the coastbound carriageway at Bean this morning, with some forced to pull over on the hard shoulder.

No injuries have been reported but police were made aware and are now appealing for witnesses to come forward after a fruitless search of the area for the culprits.

A Kent Police spokesman said: "At 11.12am on Monday, November 14, Kent Police received the first of a number of reports of rocks being thrown at vehicles on the A2 coastbound at Bean.

"The rocks were reported to have been thrown from the side of the carriageway. No injuries were reported but damage was caused to a number of vehicles.

"Officers attended and carried out a search of the area but those responsible were not located. Enquiries into the incident are ongoing.

"Witnesses or anyone with information is urged to call the appeal line on 01474 366149 quoting reference 14-0354.
