Although comparatively smaller in scale, it is the town's third incursion in 10 days following incidents on Walmer Green and land next to Deal Castle.

A spokesman for Dover District Council said: "We are aware of a group of travellers on Victoria Park in Deal, and we are visiting them today and are following due legal process in this matter.

"We can confirm that the travellers on Walmer Green have now moved on."

Kent Police has also been approached for comment.

Travellers first moved into the town on Friday, August 23 taking over land on Walmer promenade.

Their stay put a halt to the weekly Deal Parkrun the following day. There had been fears for runners' safety if the vehicles started moving while the run was on.

More vehicles pitched up next to Deal Castle on Thursday afternoon.

That night two pubs were forced to close early after they became overwhelmed by the groups. They left the town within 24 hours.
