10 migrants stopped by Border Force and brought to Dover

A total 10 migrants have today been stopped in a small boat heading for Kent.

Their vessel was intercepted on the Channel by Border Force after they were alerted at about 8am.

The occupants were transferred onto a Border Force coastal patrol vessel.

The nine men and one child found presented themselves as Iranian nationals.

A Home Office spokesman said: "They were taken to Dover, where they were medically assessed and found to be well, before being transferred to immigration officials to be interviewed.

"Their nationalities are not yet known."

Home office figure show that 725 migrants have arrived illegally in Kent between January and July this year.
