Firefighters tackle blaze at car garage in Holmestone Road, Dover

Around 30 firefighters are currently tackling a major blaze at a car garage.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) sent crews on six engines to the fire in Holmestone Road, on the Poulton industrial estate in Dover, just before 9am today.

The blaze started in an industrial unit measuring approximately 50m x 20m used as a commercial garage.

It is reported that the garage affected is Anro Vehicle Services.

Paramedics were also called to the scene, and three men have been treated for the effects of breathing in smoke.

At the height of the fire six fire engines, a height vehicle and 30 firefighters were at the scene.

Fire crews have been battling the flames wearing breathing apparatus, using three main jets, supplemented by water rained down onto the building from the height vehicle.

A cordon around the site was also put in place while crews worked to extinguish the fire.

By 10.45am, only four engines remained at the site.

A spokesman for KFRS said: "Fire crews have worked hard to bring the fire under control and keep the blaze contained to one unit."

Witnesses have report that the roof of the building has collapsed.
