An 11-year-old boy has been charged with assault and theft after a 90-year-old woman was attacked in broad daylight.

Police launched an appeal after the "nasty" assault in Dover, in which the victim was allegedly pulled backwards.

The incident happened in Cowgate Hill at 3.10pm on June 6 - leaving the woman with head and arm injuries.

Her purse and phone were also stolen.

The boy was arrested shortly afterwards and charged on Thursday. He will appear at youth court at a later date.
