The Mercury’s charity of the year, Pegasus Playscheme, is looking for staff to help it run its 30th anniversary playscheme.

The service based in Dover provides support for children and adults with a variety of severe and complex disabilities such as autism and Down’s syndrome.

Each year it is dedicated to providing a summer school for people aged five to 25, but to do so it needs to recruit 12 paid staff and 45 teenage volunteers.

Chairwoman Sue Clark said: “If you think that you have what it takes, we are recruiting for summer staff.

“Applicants have to be fit and healthy, have a caring nature and ensure that the playscheme is fun and safe.

“The scheme runs from 9.30am until 4pm, Monday to Friday, from Monday July 25 to Friday August 12 in Dover.

“Application forms along with a full job description can be found on our website at www.pegasusplayscheme.btik.com.”

Staff and volunteers assist the children and young adults on day trips, including to Dover Sea Safari and Howletts, and activities including swimming, horse riding and golf.

Staff members must be over the age of 18, have NVQ Level 2 in child care and be available for an interview in Dover on March 31.

Mrs Clark added: “We need to find £70,000 if we are to carry on this year.

“Pegasus is desperate for funds. 2016 is our 30th year of supporting our local community. We would be most grateful for any sponsorship.
