A recovery operation is in action, with an air ambulance allegedly having attended.

A police spokesman said: "We were called at 7.20am on Tuesday, September 15 following a collision between a van and a lorry on the eastbound A20 between Capel-le-Ferne and Aycliffe.

"Emergency services are currently at the scene and the carriageway is closed. Motorists are advised to expect delays and, where possible, to use an alternative route."

Long queues are now being experienced on diversion routes, with 30-minute waits being experienced by drivers on the A2 Jubilee Way and B2011 Folkestone Road.
