KFRS area manager Mani Cook said: “One of our fire engines was involved in a collision with a car on Maison Dieu Road in Dover just after 11.45am today.

“We sent two fire engines to the scene, and crews walked one woman out of the car and handed her into the care of SECAmb paramedics for precautionary checks. One firefighter sustained minor injuries.

“Fortunately no one was seriously hurt, however all incidents involving fire service vehicles are taken very seriously and we will be looking into the circumstances surrounding the collision.”

The fire engine involved was responding to reports of an automatic smoke alarm sounding in Albany Place, Dover.

Another fire engine was sent to the address, however the call was a false alarm.
