More than 500 primary school pupils from throughout Kent took part in a cross country event at Dover College’s Farthingloe ground.

Organiser Heather Miller said: “This year’s spring-like weather was welcomed by runners, teachers and spectators alike.

“With 17 schools participating - around 540 children in total - each of the four races featured well over 100 runners.

“Seeing children aged seven to 11 from the local community competing with such enthusiasm proves that this event can be entered even if the schools don’t have sporting facilities.

“Using school playgrounds for training, this event is fast becoming a tradition for many schools.”

The first one took place in 2002.

A number of local schools were unable to attend due to development days taking place at the same time.
