No casualties were caused, and the cause has been determined to be accidental.

The fire was fully extinguished within 30 minutes.

The Kent Fire and Rescue Service has since reminded the public to take extra caution with dishwashers and other electrical kitchen appliances to reduce the risk of a fire.

Measures include not overloading - which can lead to overheating and leaks - and complying with manufacturers guidance about positioning and ventilation of the machine.

Filters and other serviceable parts should be cleaned, and appliances shouldn't run overnight or while you're away from home.
