Dog helps teenage girl escape attacker

A 17-year-old girl managed to break free from a man who had grabbed her when her dog bit him on the leg.

Now police have released this image of a man they owuld like to speak to in connection with the incident.

The teenager was walking with her dog along Lower River Road, Dover, at around 6pm on Monday when she was grabbed from behind and dragged towards a small white van.

Moments earlier she had ignored the driver of the van when he stopped and spoke to her.

Her dog biting her attacker's leg allowed her to escape.

The man is described as white, aged between 20 and 25, 6ft 1in tall, of stocky build with short, dark hair.

He was wearing a white, long-sleeved shirt, blue jeans and black shoes. His right eyebrow was pierced and he had a goatee-style beard.

Police have stepped up patrols in the area.

Det Sgt Sue Marsden said: "We do not want to cause unnecessary alarm, but would remind women and girls to remain vigilant and for people to report anyone acting suspiciously."
