The knock-on effect of SpeedFerries’ demise on Dover’s economy has been revealed in a list of creditors in the town.

The figures, made available by the company, list Ardee House, Cavendish Ships Stores and Cabin Newsagents among those the firm owes money to.

There is also an outstanding debt of more than £14,000 owed to ACME Services, which ceased trading on October 10 and £8,000 is owed to the Maritime and Coastguard Agency.

Owner of Elms Vale Cleaners Florence Olaiya is listed as one of the creditors with £244.73 outstanding.

SpeedFerries ceased trading on November 25 2008 after authorities at the Port of Boulogne impounded one its ferry Speed One for non-payment of fees.

The company was unable to continue services from November 6 and a host of customers who have been unable to claim refunds from credit card issuers have also become unsecured creditors of the company.
