A LORRY overturned on a busy road near three schools but no-one was injured.

The accident happened outside Dover Grammar School for Boys, in Astor Avenue, at around 2pm on Monday. Astor College for the Arts and Priory Fields Primary School are also nearby.

As the lorry overturned, it came to rest across the pavement. Fortunately the streets were quiet at the time, as pupils were back in class. But the accident could have been much worse if it had happened later in the day when Astor Avenue is packed with parents and children on the afternoon school run.

Police and an ambulance attended the scene and it is not yet known how the accident happened. It is believed the lorry is owned by a delivery firm based in Milton Keynes.

The driver and his passenger emerged unhurt but shaken up.
