Labour's Charlotte Cornell to discuss keeping Biggin Street and Cannon Street shops, Dover, in business

Dover's Labour Prospective Parliamentary Candidate will meet traders to discuss keeping the town's high street alive.

The area's business people are invite to join the meeting to share their ideas.

Charlotte Cornell will discuss Labour's plans to keep customers coming in.

These include a national policy free bus travel to town centre areas for under-25s and free internet access there.

The meeting is at the La Salle Verte café in Cannon Street from 3pm this Friday.

Dover's precinct, Biggin Street and Cannon Street, has suffered from a high proportion of closed shop units.

Dover District Council listed 13 in March out if 45 in the entire town centre.

Deal town centre had only 10 at that time.

A number of business, such as Marks and Spencer and Shoe Zone, have left the precinct to move to Dover's new St James' Retail and Leisure Park, which first opened in March.
