A total of four fire engines were sent to the scene on Jubilee Way, towards the Duke of York’s roundabout.

Crews wearing breathing apparatus used compressed air foam to extinguish the fire.

One person was treated for injuries to their hand, and the road was closed while firefighters worked at the scene.

While queues built up on the A2, the road closure also meant that the only remaining route to the docks at the Port of Dover was via the A20.

After around three hours of firefighting, the HGV blaze was extinguished at around 7.40pm.

One lane has now been reopened but queues remain in the area.
