Man due in court on heroin importing charges

A man has been charged with attempting to import drugs through Dover.

Heroin was allegedly found in boxes marked bacon.

Philip Tasker, 42, from Southport, Merseyside, was arrested on Friday after being stopped by Border Agency officers at Dover's Eastern Docks.

During a search of a British-registered Citroen van officers were said to have discovered a number of black tape-wrapped packages within boxes marked bacon. The contents of the packages allegedly tested positive for heroin.

Tasker has been released on bail and is due to appear at Dover Magistrates Court on Thursday.
