Man hurt running from police near Dover Marina in drugs raid

A man caught up in a drugs swoop injured himself by falling off a wall while trying to run away from police.

The suspect had to be flown to hospital with serious injuries as a result of the incident in Limekiln Street, Dover.

It happened as two men in a van were stopped by police after officers seized class A drugs with an estimated street value of £200,000 from a property in the town.

A police spokesman said: "One of the occupants is reported to have run from police before falling from a wall near Dover Marina.

"The man, in his 20s, suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to a London hospital."

The force said the injured man remains in hospital in a "serious but stable condition".

A referral has been made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct, which is mandatory in such circumstances.

Police said a large amount of cash, amphetamine, and more than 100 wraps of cocaine, and drugs paraphernalia were seized as a property was raided in Peverell Road.

Cindy Webb, 61, of Victoria Park, and Jamie Hardcastle, 46, of Peverell Road, were both arrested on Friday morning.

As part of the investigation, officers also stopped two people in a van in Limekiln Street, Dover at around 10.40am.

The other person in the vehicle, Thomas Wood, 43, of no fixed address, was arrested at the scene.

He was later charged with two counts of possession of class A drugs with intent to supply.

Ms Webb was charged with possession of class A drugs with intent to supply, and Mr Hardcastle with possession with intent to supply of class A and class B drugs.

All three appeared at Medway Magistrates' Court and have been remanded in custody.

They are due to appear at Canterbury Crown Court on April 14.
