Fatal A2 crash: Motorcyclist from Dover in his 20s killed in accident which shut road near Lydden

A motorcyclist died at the scene of a crash that closed the A2 for several hours, it has been confirmed.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the fatal accident, which happened at 12.50pm yesterday on the coastbound carriageway in Lydden, near to the traffic lights junction.

A man in his 20s from Dover died at the scene after his silver Honda CB650 motorcycle was in collision with a black Hyundai ix20 car.

The road was closed in both directions while officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Uni attended the scene to investigate.

A Kent Police spokesman said: "We would like to hear from anyone who saw the collision, or if you were waiting at the traffic lights before the collision took place, and in particular if you have any dashcam footage.

"Other motorcyclists are reported to have been in the area at the time and we ask that they come forward as they may have information which could help enquiries."
