River Dour fly-tipper's name reported to Dover District Council

The name of a man allegedly caught fly-tipping in Dover has been reported to Dover District Council.

The man, who was photographed pouring waste from a bin bag into the River Dour in Dover, cannot be named for legal reasons.

When contacted via his business telephone, he answered but asked to be called back in five minutes. He was later unreachable.

Fly-tipping is an offence and usually costs taxpayers money to clean it up.

A DDC spokesman said: “We would like to thank the local media for their help in this matter. "As with any incident, we will look into all reports and take all appropriate steps.

"We would urge people to contact the council as soon as possible if they witness incidents of fly-tipping so that evidence can be gathered and appropriate action taken.

“We would stress that fly-tipping is a criminal offence that not only looks unsightly, but can create health risks. DDC continues to work hard to tackle issues of fly-tipping across the district.

"If a member of the public witnesses fly-tipping they can report it online on the DDC website or by telephoning 01304 872428 during office hours or 01304 821199 outside of office hours.”
