New ferry service to Dieppe

Another ferry service is due to start from Dover next year, this time to Dieppe.

It is being planned by LD Lines which has just been given the go-ahead by the Port of Dover for a passenger and freight ferry service between Dover and Boulogne from July 1, 2009.

Now, subject to confirmation and approvals, LD Lines plans to introduce a daily, year round passenger and freight service between Dover and Dieppe in early 2009.

With a crossing time of four hours 15 minutes, the service will provide one round trip daily between the two ports.

The company says it is aiming to attract passengers and freight customers from the Dover and South East area, travelling to the west and south west of France and to Spain, who prefer a relaxing ferry crossing, saving between two and three hours’ driving time.

The port of Dieppe is the closest ferry port to Paris and a new bridge road network links the motorways between Paris and Dieppe avoiding the drive through Rouen city centre.
