New homes scheme for former William Muge and Snelgrove House site at Harold Street, Dover

Plans for a major new housing development in place of two shelter homes are going on show this weekend.

The project is for the former William Muge House and Snelgrove House in Harold Street Dover.

The display is at a community event on the site, owned by Dover District Council, from 10am to 1pm on Saturday.

People can see the plans, give their views and also help design a new community area.

The new homes could be completed by 2021 and their look is the work of award-winning architects Avanti Architects.

They include 29 shared ownership apartments, 24 social housing apartments, and 12 town houses.

A planning application has already been submitted.

William Muge and Snelgrove Houses closed nearly a decade ago.

Cllr Pauline Beresford, DDC cabinet member for housing, said: “We are delighted to be able to bring forward these exciting plans, and we hope as many people as possible will take the chance to come along and have their say.”
