A2 shut between Dover and Canterbury at Barham after vehicle overturns

An overturned vehicle shut a main road through the county.

The accident happened on the westbound stretch of the A2 between Dover and Canterbury. shortly after 9.30am.

It affected travel between the A260 junction for Aylesham and Womenswold and the A28 (Canterbury).

The road was closed and forced traffic to a standstill.

It was confirmed the road reopened at about midday.

A police spokeswoman said: "We was called at around 9.45am on Sunday 8 December 2019 to reports of a collision on the A2 Londonbound in Barham.

"Officers are at the scene where a vehicle is reported to be on its side.

"Kent Fire and Rescue Service are also at the scene where one lane is currently closed."

No details have been released about any injuries.
