Dover Post Office moving from Pencester Road to Biggin Street in February

Dover Post Office is on the move.

The present one, at the Alldays convenience store in Pencester Road, will close on February 4.

It will reopen on February 13, just120 metres away at Biggin Street.

During the nine-day gap customers can use Buckland Post Office in London Road or the Crabble branch in Buckland Avenue.

A Post Office Ltd spokesman said: "The lease for the current premises at Pencester Road, Dover, is due to expire in the near future.

"We have therefore had to identify an alternative location to continue to offer services to the local community."

Post Office Ltd said the new premises will undergo a refurbishment to incorporate a convenience store.

The Pencester Road Post Office will close at exactly 8pm on Tuesday, February 4.

Services will begin at Biggin Street at 7am on Thursday, February 13.

The opening hours will be exactly the same, 8.30am to 5.30pm Mondays to Fridays and 8.30am to 2.30pm on Saturdays.

The new Post Office will have five serving positions, two screened and two open plan and a fifth at the retail counter.

Post Office Ltd has started a consultation process with customers, which closes on Friday, February 21.
