Port of Dover: P&O and DFDS warn of delays getting through customs checks and 90-minute hold-ups in Calais

Ferry operators are warning of queues building at the Port of Dover this morning – with 40-minute delays getting through customs checks.

As the summer getaway continues, both P&O and DFDS are advising passengers to leave extra time to reach the port and be prepared for delays getting through the various checkpoints.

And for those coming back into the county today, there are delays of some 90 minutes in Calais going through customs.

P&O said: “Please be advised that there are queues at the entrance to the Port of Dover. Please allow additional time on your journey if possible and rest assured that you will be on the next crossing should you miss yours.”

DFDS added: “Dover traffic is busy with queues of up to 40 minutes at border controls, check-in is busy but is continually moving.

“In Calais, there are no queues at check-in but queues of up to 90 minutes at border controls.”
