The competition, for over-18s only, is free to enter, but contestants are urged to pre-register via the Roman Quay Facebook page as entry on the day is subject to availability.

Pub manager Alex Frear said: “Since the refurbishment at the end of August, when we introduced eight new screens and a new darts and pool area, we have focused on creating a pub that has one of the best sporting facilities in Dover. Our customers have really embraced our ‘watch sport, play sport’ ethos, and know they can rely on The Roman Quay to always show their favourite sport live on the screens.

“We have a growing band of pool players who regularly play at The Roman Quay, so we felt it was time to create a bit of competition with the first of many tournaments.”
