Roundhill Tunnel closed coastbound as holday traffic and checks at Port of Dover cause congestion

The Roundhill Tunnel is closed on the coastbound carriageway as queues to the Port of Dover start to build.

This is part of further traffic management into the town after TAP had been implemented.

There is also a speed limit of 40mph which applies to all vehicles heading to the port from the A20.

Natinal Highways officers are at the port to help with traffic management.

The current wait time is said to be up to 90 minutes but some passengers have reported on social media to having to wait up to three hours.

Post Brexit checks and people going on holiday ahead of the heatwave is being blamed for the disruption.

The diversion route is:

- Exit M20 at J13 and onto the A259 Churchill Avenue.

- Travel east to the A260 Canterbury Road roundabout.

- Take the first exit on to the A260 Canterbury Road and head north.

- At the Spitfire Way roundabout take the third exit on to the A20 coastbound.
