Spitfires seen flying over White Cliffs of Dover

Two Spitfires have been spotted flying over the Kent coast - sparking speculation that they were practising ahead of a VE Day display.

Footage shows the planes soaring through the sky near the White Cliffs of Dover this afternoon.

They were also seen flying above a ship off the coast.

Onlookers told KentOnline that it looked like the iconic planes were getting in some preparation ahead of Friday's 75th anniversary.

This comes after it was announced that the Daily Mail has been granted permission to send a Spitfire Mk IX across the country this Bank Holiday to mark the occasion.

The Ministry of Defence has been contacted for comment.
