A town's streets were filled with colour at the first live Dover Pride since the start of coronavirus pandemic.

Revellers took part in a full march and enjoyed a packed entertainment programme yesterday to celebrate the LGBTQ+ communities.

There were two stages at the event, with performances from River Medway - who will star in series three of Ru Paul’s Drag Race - and a Kylie Minogue tribute act.

Last summer the event was limited to Dover Digital Pride, which was a virtual event because of coronavirus, but more than 20,000 people were reached.

Dover Pride kicked off yesterday with the march at 11am from the green next to The Riverside Centre in Maison Dieu Road, before it continued through the precinct and ended at the Roman Lawn in Market Street.

The main stage was at the Roman Lawn and was hosted by Dover drag queen Miss Lilli Berlin.

The host at the other venue, the Pride Café at Biggin Hall, was drag queen Miss Di Vour.

There were performances from Kylie On Show, River Medway, Sophia Stardust, Miss Lilli Berlin and her dad Poppy Love, Miss Divour, The Kiki House of Versace, Ryan Abbott, Janet District Council, Aunty Ginger and The Square Peg Singers.

All events were free but the public were asked to make a donation to help bring back the event next year.

The first ever Dover Pride was in 2019 and was attended by more than 1,000 people.
