Subway in Whitfield could be closed after Dover council began court proceedings over hygiene worries

A Subway branch is under fire after a council began court proceedings over hygiene concerns.

An application has been made to serve the owners of the franchise in White Cliffs Business Park in Whitfield, near Dover, with a hygiene emergency prohibition order.

The order would give inspectors the immediate ability to access the site.

The matter is to be heard tomorrow at Canterbury Magistrates Court.

Both Dover District Council and Subway have been approached for a comment.

It is understood the branch is owned by a different owner to the branches in Biggin Street and Aycliffe.

The expanding White Cliffs Business Park, where the restaurant is based, is home to the new Lidl store and the soon to open £26m Dover District Leisure Centre.
